All About Hublot Big Bang Watches

The world of watches often settled on certain basic contemporary designs when it came to creating new collections. As is common in the business, watches that have more classic and elegant styles are often the more desired options amongst watch aficionados. The world of watchmaking was looking for a change and rightfully so, the Big Bang collection came over to make its mark.

The Big Bang collection was the brainchild of Hublot’s former CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, who took over the company in the year 2004. Looking to bring in something new and fresh, Biver conceptualized a range of watches that met the aesthetic values of a more open crowd. The result was a wonderfully curated blend of avant-garde styles and contemporary elements. The brand labeled the creation of this range “the art of fusion”, which allowed the creators and craftsmen to experiment with new, unexpected materials and designs.

Interestingly, while conceptualizing something fresh and modern, Hublot was able to reminisce upon its own collection of watches from the 1980s. As we all know, fashion is cyclical. Even today, it continues to draw inspiration from the styles of the bygone eras and reintroduce them in new and interesting ways. With the same idea in mind, Hublot was influenced by its past range and brought about similar elements in designing the Big Bang collection.

The watches in the Big Bang collection are encased around the same round Bezel, exposed screws as well as rubber straps that are reminiscent of the brand’s original designs. In addition, the large chronograph further established the brand’s inclination towards contemporary designs, especially when combined with their own iconic designs.

The Big Bang collection undoubtedly placed the brand among the top ranks, and well enough, earned the brand several accolades. One such prestigious honor was the title of Best Design at the Grand Prix d’Horologie de Geneve. The incredible reception inspired Hublot to focus on creating its own range of new and innovative materials. As a result, today, Hublot runs its own metallurgy department that gave rise to some popular inventions, such as their ‘Magic Gold’ – a scratch-proof 18-karat gold alloy.

Such measures further prove how Hublot is dedicated to not only reinventing their own signature styles but also matching the aesthetic sense of the modern buyer.

Jean-Claude Biver had earlier collaborated with the legendary Swiss watch brand Blancpain. In fact, he was the one responsible for resurrecting the image of the brand when it had ceased its operations in the 1970s. Biver is known to not only conceptualize styles and designs but also reimagine the brand’s image. He is renowned for his marketing skills and is able to apply his unique approach to constantly upgrade the brand’s offerings.

It was the same talent that helped him create the iconic line of Big Bang watches in 2004 and also bring in the public’s attention towards Hublot. As a result, the brand prospered in the years that followed. Biver ensures that each timepiece not only retains the iconic elements of the brand but it also has space for introducing modern ideas and concepts through the medium of art and design.

Hublot ensured that it continually reinvented the Big Bang collection to bring in new combinations of designs and materials. These elements include unusual resources like lightweight alloy that’s made of magnesium and aluminium, as well as its renowned 18K ‘Magic Gold’ alloy. The brand also gave special importance to creating intricate movements in the timepieces that enhanced the overall user experience. As the collection was extremely well-received in 2004 during its release, the brand released three new models for its 10th-anniversary celebrations in 2015. These include the Hublot Big Bang Unico, constituting the propriety in-house UNICO movement, the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon- featuring a 5-Day Power Reserve Indicator, and the Hublot Big Bang Rose Gold - a Big Bang version in Full Magic Gold. These models were, once again, relished by all watch enthusiasts and Hublot fans, in particular.

The brand also launched a Big Bang ’10 Years’ Haute Joailleire collection that included 10 premium, luxury models. Each piece in the range is embedded with high-quality diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. The watches from this collection were unanimously celebrated by fans all over. The blend of contemporary designs with luxury gems and materials was an instant hit amongst fans all over, which once again helped re-establish the supremacy of the Big Bang collection.

Currently, some of Hublot’s most well-received watches under the Big Bang banner include the Hublot Big Bang Sang Bleu, Hublot King Power, and the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Titanium. These novel designs were well-received for their look and feel, as well as superior performance.

Without a doubt, the Big Bang collection helped revive the brand and bring it into a new light. Watch lovers from around the world appreciated the collection for being aesthetically pleasing yet modern and innovative. The Big Bang collection will surely go down in history as one of the best releases from the house of Hublot. If you’re looking for a timepiece that exudes its own sense of flair and modernity, a watch the Big Bang collection from Hublot is definitely the right choice.
