TAG Heuer Watches

Set Ascending Direction

Inheriting the legacy of the original Heuer watchmaking, the TAG Heuer brand has built a reputation for its quality sport watches. Alongside its spirit of racing and adventure, TAG Heuer constantly innovates and upgrades their watches to the best level. To understand how TAG Heuer became one of the most popular watch brands, we should take a look at its history and accomplishments.

It is necessary to trace back to 1860 when the original Heuer watch company was founded by the young and talented watchmaker Eduardo Heuer. Within a short span of time, the company firmly built its name in Europe for its distinguishing quality workmanship and precision timepieces.

The growth of the company allowed its further determination on technological research and development. It led to their next watchmaking breakthrough and bigger success. In 1887, they invented and patented an oscillating pinion mechanism that is still being used by major watchmakers in this present day.

With its series of technical innovations, the company had grown as a specialist in the field of precision. In 1916, the Heuer company released the Micrograph which was the most accurate stopwatch at the time. During the 1920s, many racers were spotted wearing the Heuer sports timepieces in the Antwerp, Paris and Amsterdam Olympics.

The brand has been focusing on their intimate relationship with the automobile and airline industries for decades. In the 1930s, they began to design and produce chronographs for pilots. Later in 1933, Heuer introduced a new dashboard instrument for automobiles and planes: the Heuer Autavia clock. It featured a timer function with an impressive power reserve of eight days without being wound.

The 1980s is the period that the company had been through a couple of major changes for its whole business. In 1985, Techniques d'Avant Garde Group acquired the Heuer company and became the international brand we know today, TAG Heuer. Upholding the original value and craftsmanship of Heuer, TAG Heuer has continued to grow.

The relationship between TAG Heuer and motorsports has been further perpetuated since the brand became the official timekeeper for Formula 1 races in 1992. TAG Heuer even created a collection of motorsports sport watches and named it Formula 1. Later a collaborative collection with the Formula 1 Team was also released and called the SLR. Other TAG Heuer racing watches such as Carrera and Monaco have also gained massive success for the brand. Shortly after, they launched both the Link and Aquaracer collections under the new TAG Heuer name.

To this day, TAG Heuer is one of the most innovative and successful watch brands in the world. The brand has never ceased for technological research and inventions, In 2015, they introduced their first smartwatch TAG Heuer Connected Module. TAG Heuer was one of the very first traditional watchmakers who grew their digital category.

With a high reputation for excellence, it’s clear that TAG Heuer watches are worth it to be in your collection. Now let’s take a look at the most famous TAG Heuer models:

Tag Heuer Carrera

Carrera should be one of the most iconic TAG Heuer automobile racing watch models The name Carrera was inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, a race in Mexico which is known to be dangerous and difficult from 1950 to 1954.

The original Heuer Carrera was launched in 1953. At the time the founder’s grandson Jack Heuer wanted to create a watch for professional race car drivers. For the races, the watch had to be perfectly precise and robust to withstand the vibrations that drivers experience. The result of the launch of Heuer Carrera was a great success. It achieved a cult status among the watch lovers.

Since then Tag Heuer Carrera has been almost synonymous with TAG Heuer. The revival of Carrera in 1995 modified and improved the model that today it is even more reliable, advanced and attractive than it was half a century ago. The Carrera watch has played an important role in both TAG Heuer's history and history of modern horology. The Tag Heuer Carrera chronograph was pitched as a yardstick in the world of chronographs, which is an accomplishment that some other brands are still struggling to achieve till today.

TAG Heuer Monaco

Holding up the craftsmanship of its original Heuer Monaco, the TAG Heuer Monaco is one of the most significant and recognisable watches in the market.

The Heuer Monaco was introduced in 1969 as a square cased watch with water resistance to depth of 100 meters. This original TAG Heuer Monaco watch was equipped with the renowned Heuer Calibre 11. With its peculiar shape and high quality, the Monaco watch has become an icon in the world of sports watches.

Heuer Monaco rose to fame after being worn by Steve McQueen’s watch in the 1971 movie “Le Mans”. The watch quickly gained worldwide popularity and success since then. The TAG Heuer Monaco is now considered as one of the most iconic motorsports watches in the world.

TAG Heuer Formula 1

TAG Formula 1 was another iconic collection that represents the long standing relationship of the brand with motorsports. In 1986 the Heuer launched their automobile watches, Tag Heuer Formula 1 as the first new watch in the family after Heuer was merged with the Techniques d'Avant Garde Group. The new TAG Heuer Formula 1 featured a bold analog design with a cutting-edge quartz movement. It is noticeable that the collection had remained a quartz-only watch until very recently.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Series 1 is equipped with a fiberglass case with the in-house ETA movements. The later models offer chronograph versions that are highly admired by the watch collectors. Formula 1 was discontinued in 2000 after the acquisition of the LVMH Group, but it was shortly revived with a updated Tag Heuer Formula 1 chronograph model. It is now a key part in the TAG Heuer watch lineups.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer was released in 2004 as a comparatively young collection in the family. It has quickly grown into one of TAG Heuer’s most popular watches. As the single diver watch collection of TAG Heuer, these watches offer sporty designs and professional features for divers. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer offers water resistance to depths of 300 meters or nearly 1,000 feet, which should be sufficient for most of the experienced underwater sportsmen. If you are going to buy these TAG Heuer Singapore will be a good choice to look for one with a reasonable price.
